Conor McGregor appears to agree to next fight in Twitter exchange – ‘see you in December’ | UFC | Sport

Conor McGregor and Franke Edgar appeared to agree to a fight in December during a Twitter exchange.

Earlier on Wednesday, the UFC Twitter account wished Edgar a happy birthday, and surprisingly McGregor responded.

He posted: “Happy birthday Frankie, see you in December.”

Edgar responded: “Thanks pal, I said yes already its on you and Dana White to make it happen.”

McGregor then responded again with a bizarre request.

“There you go White, make the bout. Give my purse to charity.

“First responders. One for all!”

McGregor has been hotly tipped to square off against Edgar, after he told ESPN that the lightweight was at the top of his hit-list for his comeback.

“Who else is top of the list? Frankie Edgar is also up there on the list because he has similarities to Khabib,” McGregor said of Edgar.

“He runs on the back foot and shoots on the single leg. I want these sort of similar bouts.

“And also, Frankie has been very respectful. He’s always respectful. He said, ‘I want to tell my his grandkids I fought Conor McGregor’, one day.”

Despite having his eyes set on a rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov, it appears unlikely that fight will be made.

Instead, Nurmagomedov looks set to defend his UFC title against Tony Ferguson.

Yesterday, Edgar claimed he would fight McGregor “at any weight class”.

“I’ll fight Conor at any weight class. We can do 55, 70, he’s gonna be bigger than me regardless of what weight we fight at,” Edgar said to MMA Fighting.

“He’s been saying he wants to fight me. I’m hearing he wants to fight me. And he has the control.

“I don’t know if the UFC is into it, but ultimately I believe Conor has the choice. If he really wants to fight me, we’ll fight.”
