Former president of the RSL in New South Wales Professor James Brown says Australia has been “complacent” in its security thinking over China.

Speaking to Sky News Professor Brown said the protests in Hong Kong are a threat to the Chinese Communist Party and Australia “can’t let China pocket too many concessions and get away with bad behavior”.

“Years ago, we were relying on China to do its best and hoping that by being rich, China would be responsible. But now we’re fearing the worst,” he said.
