Letter penned in prison by Christchurch terrorist ends up on far-right message board0:49
The man accused of the Christchurch terror attack could be blocked from sending letters after one he wrote in prison was posted on a far-right message board.
Sky News has decided not to broadcast the contents of the letter which Brenton Tarrant sent to a man in Russia in July.
New Zealand’s Corrections Minister Kelvin Davis says “we have never had to manage a prisoner like this before and I have asked questions around whether our laws are now fit for purpose.”
He went on to say: “I do not believe that Corrections should have allowed this letter to be sent and have sought assurances from them that there will be an enhanced process from now on. ”
Tarrant is accused of murdering 51 people and injuring 49 others during a shooting spree at two Christchurch mosques in March.
His trial begins in May.
