Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers are poised to tie down Allan McGregor and Ryan Jack to new deals following their solid start to the new season.
Steven Gerrard confirmed on Friday that two of his first-team players will see their contracts extended in the near future.
“Allan’s is pretty self-explanatory,” Gerrard said as his side prepare to take on Hearts on Sunday.
“If Allan plays a certain amount of games, then a year kicks in anyway, so watch this space.
“How many games, I don’t know. You’ll have to ask Ross Wilson. He’ll have all the contracts in his top drawer.
“But it would be close before the winter break. Definitely around then, if he keeps playing well.
“He is in a good place, in good form and we expect him to be here next year. That is never in doubt.
“In terms of Ryan Jack, a new deal is imminent.”
Gerrard and Alfredo Morelos were recently handed the Scottish Premiership manager and player of the month awards for September, which the Rangers boss has dedicated to his staff.
Gerrard said: “It is a collective effort.
“We as a staff can’t collect these unless the players are doing the job on the pitch and the players have been fantastic for the majority of the season.
“Alfredo deserves it. I am always pleased to see my players get individual accolades.
“It is always nice for them from a personal point of view, but the important thing for us all is that we keep pushing hard to try to achieve things collectively, because that is the main part of our job.”
Rangers take on Hearts at Tynecastle Park on Sunday (3pm) as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Premiership table.
